I mean COME ON!

"If Mae West you like and me undressed you like, no-one will oppose."

Ultimate showbiz grandma legendary realness.

Remembering the little people.

The Week In Revue

Monday night was the opening for the HOT! Festival opening at R Bar. I performed a brief extract from "Notorious Beauty", my show which runs July 10, 11, and 12th at Dixon Place. Come see it! I have special guests!

Tuesday I spent sending out press releases and working on my new "Tutti Fruttii" number, then went down to Lucky Cheng's to rehearse with the band.

Wednesday I had brunch with Mrs Woo, picked up my fliers and went to a Uniqlo casting. That evening I went to see Our Lady J at the Zipper Theatre and ended up whiling away the evening at Julius' in the fine company of Misses Martin, Carrera, Bond, Brandy and J. Lovely!

Thursday I took ritalin, and was very efficient. I rehearsed with Thain, for the Ms Stonewall pageant and then headed off to Lincoln Centre for Drag Video Verite, to see clips of the city's most esteemed queens (including Legs and myself) show 'em how it's done. Afterwards I steamed towards Stonewall for the pageant where I made a lot of mess onstage with my green food coloring.

Friday was a comparatively relaxed day; I went to brunch with Mr End and we spread fliers for various degenerate events all over the West Village. And totally got cruised by Hilary Swank.

Saturday was something else, the Mermaid Parade in fact. I was a part of Legs' entourage on the march, carrying the Mermaid Ball banner and wearing a swimsuit. Due to my up 'do and head scarf (I presume) people in the crowd yelled; "Hey Lucy!" to me all day. The photographers were unbelievable, at times we couldn't walk forward and a path had to be cleared by security! I spent 15 hours done up, because on the back of the parade Brittany and I headed to Bad Ass to perform my "Fame" number.

Sunday saw yet more rehearsal and "Mamma MargOH!'s All Soul Revue" at Lucky Cheng's, where I debuted my "Tutti Frutti" routine. IE pulled oranges out of my bra.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, she works hard for the money/drink tickets.

Thanks to Gothamist for the video.

Stonewall

Working the door at Victoria ("lesbian drag night" as Mrs Woo had it) is not an easy task. One must drink a lot of pineapple juice, mingle with pop stars and other internationally celebrated performers, eat cupcakes from Shop Rite and attend to many other perilous tasks. All of this must be carried out with elegance and decorum, in high heels, even when under duress from dudes on the prowl.

"I think you're very attractive," he said, distracting me from a genuinely interesting interaction to my right. "Is this reciprocated?"

Unimpressed by this less than giving compliment, I told him; "Oh, I'm married."

"Do you have breasts," he asked.

"Nope," I replied, puzzled by his non sequitur .

"So you're just very pretty?"

"Yes."

And then he went to The Monster to try and score uppers.

Notorious

Ah, Mercury in Retrograde, I knew her well.

Mercury in retrograde brings people from your past back into your life. Last week I met my old room mate twice in three days, after a six month hiatus, and then last night at TingelTangel I saw the incredible Mrs Jonny Woo who was previewing her new show International Woman of Mister 'E'. I hadn't seen her since I left London and was thrilled to be in the audience for the American premiere of what is a tightly written, witty and warped tale of drag on the brink. On top of that I happened upon a kid I went to school with in London, and was honestly thrilled to see him. I even made new friends, if you can imagine such a thing; there were a whole set of kooks at the party and we exchanged numbers.

Posterior

Last night Tahara asked; "Are you a trained ballet dancer? I noticed you have a very developed posterior."

Subtle

Last night was "The Cockettes Are Coming!", a tribute forward slash reunion show for the legendary San Fran queens. There was a lot of glitter involved, a good time was had by all and nobody got hit by a plastic baby Jesus. It was a three hour spectacular representing five decades of queer performance art, with the most incredible cavalcade of stars, some of whom are pictured above. I emceed and wore four undeniably captivating outfits, plus I sang disco with my flawless dancers, The Future Legendary Children Dance Squad .
